Education: Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics.
Professional Experience:
Associate Professor of Mathematics at a senior college. I do not have formal training in painting and drawing.
Rather, they are my passion and hobby.
Statement: My art mostly reflects social issues that matter to me. I also love nature and its colors. With vibrant colors,
my work frequently celebrates nature and its beauty. Many of them also have geometric patterns or
mathematical symbols, which signify my love for mathematics.
Last year, I developed the doodling technique with markers and pen. To the best of my knowledge, I do not
know of anyone who has used such a technique. Since I am a full-time faculty and a mother, I wasn’t
getting much time for art. I was feeling unhappy and incomplete. I was desperately looking for a way to
pursue my passion and hobby. Working with markers is mess-free and requires almost no preparation. Thus
began my exploration with colors with a drawing pad, markers, pens, and pencils. I work during my breaks
between semesters, during my subway ride, or when flying to conferences. In other words, this technique is
born out of necessity. It is a sustainable way I can pursue my dream, which can ultimately bring a sense of
purpose.
